Make a mistake. Then move forward.

I always keep on thinking about how my life would be if I pursue my passion and took the course I really wanted. It’s hard for me to let go of my mistake and move forward. I always tend to wake up with that in mind and what the outcome would be if I just decided on my own.

Last night I decided to re-watch the Lion King and this one line really hit home for me.

“The past can hurt, but the way I see it you either run from it or learn from it.”

-Rafiki, The Lion King

True to the line, the past can really hurt especially when we realized that we could’ve done something to make it better but we chose not to. And that’s how we’ll start to regret everything until we realize that we’re already trapped in the past and couldn’t move on.

I know it’s so hard to let go of the past, especially when it keeps on holding us back but we need to drop our baggage so we can keep moving forward. The only thing that will set us free is when we learn how to let go of things and stop living in the past.

Looking back to the past is good but living on it will only get us trapped. Reminiscing our memories are healthy ways of coping with life but the struggle will arise when we keep on reliving our past mistakes.

Mistakes are inevitable. Even if we want it or not, we will still make mistakes along the way for us to be successful and to be better people. We make a mistake so we could learn from it and not do it again.

Evaluating yourself, letting go of the inevitable past, and being true to yourself that mistakes are necessary for us to grow, might change how we value even the simplest things in life.

Forgive, forget and move on. People are made to make mistakes. Everyone makes a mistake every day because we’re human and that’s what we do. We make mistakes, we get back up, we learn from it, and then we move forward.
